Africa Uncensored was on Thursday, June 27th 2019 announced as the winner of the 2019 TRACE Prize for Investigative Reporting.

A five-person team from Africa Uncensored comprising co-founder and CEO John-Allan Namu, Elijah KanyiSamuel MuniaSteve Biko and Clement Kumalija received the TRACE prize for the investigative documentary, The Profiteers.

“We hope that our story can help bring the world’s attention to what continues to happen in South Sudan, if only for there to be some respite for the people of South Sudan from the crimes of their elite. We are also very excited to be one of the first two African teams to have won this award,” Namu said while accepting the award.

The award was presented to the team at a ceremony held in Vancouver, Canada.

The award was presented by the TRACE Foundation, a non-profit organization established by anti-bribery business association TRACE.
