In December 2013, a civil war broke out in South Sudan. Since then, the government has been responsible for the torture and forced disappearance of several South Sudanese citizens.

Dong Samuel Luak, a human rights lawyer and activist, and Aggrey Ezbon Idri, a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement In-Opposition (IO) and vocal critic of the government were abducted and executed after they fled to Kenya.
