Imagine being displaced from the place you’ve known as your home not by anyone, but by factors beyond you. You move to a place where you are at the mercy of wild animals, and other risks such as diseases, drought, and vandalism. In this story, Nakuru and Baringo families share their agony of being rendered homeless by the impact of climate change. At the same time, the displaced families have little knowledge on mitigation, the changing weather patterns and no support from the government.

The World Bank’s Groundswell Africa’s recent report on the environment warns that climate change will cause up to 86 million Africans to migrate within their countries by 2050. This includes about 38.5 million people from within the Lake Victoria basin, including Kenya.
