Call for Trainers: Investigate 101 Training Program

Africa Uncensored, an independent media house founded by Kenya’s finest investigative journalists, is seeking experienced trainers to participate in a comprehensive training and mentorship program in investigative journalism.

We are committed to uncovering the truth, promoting freedom of speech, protecting human rights, and upholding democratic values in Kenya.

As a trainer, you will have the unique opportunity to empower emerging journalists and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to investigate, expose hidden truths, and hold power to account.

By joining our program, you will contribute to shaping the next generation of investigative journalists in Kenya.

Program Overview

The training program aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Enhance participants’ understanding of investigative journalism ethics, principles, and techniques.
  • Equip participants with the necessary tools and methodologies to conduct in-depth investigations.
  • Deepen participants’ knowledge of legal frameworks and regulations related to freedom of speech, human rights, and democracy.
  • Develop participants’ skills in data analysis, source verification, and conducting interviews for investigative purposes.
  • Provide guidance on writing compelling investigative stories that engage audiences and drive social change.
  • Offer fellowship opportunities to selected participants, providing financial support and mentorship for investigative projects.

Requirements

We are looking for trainers who are experienced in investigative journalism and have expertise in the following areas:

  • Research, Data Journalism, and Fact-checking
  • Investigation Techniques: Open Source, Digital Investigation, and Undercover Operations
  • Investigative Writing and Producing Investigative Documentaries
  • Ethics in Journalism,
  • Security, and Safety
  • Pitching, Presenting, and Storytelling
