As part of our commitment to journalistic excellence, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Editor to join our team.
Note: This is a full-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Oversight
- Lead the editorial team in maintaining the highest standards of investigative journalism.
- Review and edit all editorial products, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to our ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with reporters to develop compelling and impactful stories.
- In conjunction with the Africa Uncensored senior team, oversee Africa Uncensored’s long-term editorial objectives
- Nurture and maintain partnerships with organisations in support of Africa Uncensored’s editorial projects
- Coordination of Fact-Checking and OSINT Desk
- Oversee the fact-checking process to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our investigative reports.
- Coordinate with the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) desk to leverage digital information in support of investigations.
- Implement and enforce fact-checking and OSINT best practices across the organization.
- Nurture partnerships with like-minded fact-checking organisations
- Commissioning of Projects Across Africa
- Utilize a strong network of journalists across Africa to commission and coordinate investigative projects.
- Foster relationships with freelance journalists, news outlets, and investigative organizations on the continent.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in editorial roles, with a focus on investigative journalism.
- Strong understanding of fact-checking processes and Open Source Intelligence.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding journalistic integrity.
- A strong network of journalists across Africa.
