Globally, suicide is the second leading cause of death among youths aged between 15-29 years, according to the World Health Organization. Close to 800,000 deaths every year are as a result of suicides. That translates to about one death every 40 seconds. Over the last 9 years alone, the number of recorded suicides in Kenya has risen by 58%. When do we say enough is enough and begin to treat mental illnesses as illnesses like any other? When do we begin to take our mental health seriously? Africa Uncensored’s Joy Kirigia takes us through a journey of her own experiences as well those of other Kenyans in this documentary.
